Class Offerings: August - May
Ballet:
Ballet I: Ages 5-7
Classical ballet technique is introduced at the Ballet Barre. Foot and arm positioning is explored through Plie, Releve, Tendu, Degage and Rond de Jambe. Traditional center work is done with ease as the students pantomime, jump, spin and stretch to the delightful “Carnival of the Animals”. This original ballet workout develops the correct musculature, balance and suppleness essential to the ballet dancer, all while enjoying a creative, light-hearted experience.
Ballet 2: Ages 7-11
Based on the Vaganova tradition, the dancers endeavor the classical alignment as they study intermediate terminology. Students learn dance principles such as Pirouette, Sauté, Pique and en Tournant. Attention is paid to each student’s individual alignment as the dancers become aware of their own natural ranges of joint motion and how to develop safely.
Ballet/Lyrical: Ages 12-18
Building on the principles learned in Ballet 2, dancers drill intermediate to advanced Barre exercises. Center work may be presented in a spiral, rotational, elongated or other neo-classical style. Principles such as foutée, battu, and épaulement are added.
En Pointe: Ages 13+
Students must be enrolled in Ballet/Lyrical. Audition or interview required.
Jazz:
Spin, leap, kick and jump with style! Whether it’s Street Dance or Fosse, Swing, Lyrical or Latin, today’s Broadway dancers display many skills.
Jazz 1: introduces the FUNdamentals!
Jazz 2: presents challenging choreography
Jazz 3: prepares the student for University programs and professional auditions.
Tap:
The quintessential rhythm dance, Tap is part dance and part musicality. From Shuffles to Wings, Flaps to Pullbacks, StarStruck’s Tap Program offers four levels to accommodate the most advanced dancer. Enrollment in Level 4 by audition only.
Dance a la Cirque:
StarStruck offers the premier “Cirque” experience on the Treasure Coast. Based on modern dance and acrobatics, the students use teamwork to counter balance a partner creating shapes and formations. The students also learn the Circus Art of Aerial Fabric or Silks. A vertical, soft apparatus that challenges the student to climb, descend, invert, spin, balance and drop. A unique offering, Dance a la Cirque develops strength, concentration and courage like no other dance form. Enrollment in Cirque 2 by audition only.
