The Interview

 

A native of Stuart, Florida, tenor Kevin King has held leading roles in theatrical performances of opera, oratorio, and musical theatre. Some notable credits are Die Zauberflöte (Monostatos), Handel’s Messiah (Tenor Soloist), La Curandera (Alberto), Beauty and the Beast (Beast), Bye, Bye Birdie (Albert), and Hello Dolly! (Cornelius). Kevin also appeared in The Music Man as Jacey Squires, the first tenor of a barbershop quartet, and subsequently formed an actively performing barbershop quartet named, “The Four Aces.” Kevin holds a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University in DeLand, Florida, where he performed two solo recitals and studied in the studio of Mrs. Jane Christesen, an internationally renowned performer. He has also had the honor of performing in master classes, working with artists such as Lucy Schaefer, Valery Ryvkin, Ken Griffiths, and Jeremy Huw Williams.

Currently: Kevin is pursuing his master’s degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, studying in the studio of Mrs. Rose Taylor. As a result of his academic and musical excellence, Kevin has been awarded two Presidential Scholarships to attend the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a position in the Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda. Kevin holds a Worship Director position at PromiseLand West Church in Austin, TX. He is also on staff at Albertson School of Music as a Vocal and Piano teacher. Kevin King is pressing on to attain a Doctor of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, hoping to continue a professional performance career and hold a faculty position at a university as a vocal professor.
